What is your idea of a good friend…

When you were three years old, your idea of a good friend was someone who let you have the red crayon when you were left with the ugly black one.

When you were six, your idea of a good friend was someone who shared lunch with you when you forgot yours Tiffin on the school bus.

When you were nine, your idea of a good friend was someone who saved you from the school bully.

When you were twelve, your idea of a good friend was someone who saved a seat on the bus for you.

When you were fifteen, your idea of a friend was someone who listened patiently when you spoke about that girl for hours on end.

When you were eighteen, your idea of a good friend was someone who let you have the girl even when he liked her.

When you were twenty-one, your idea of a good friend was someone who hugged you when you flunked the exam.

When you were thirty, your idea of a good friend was the husband of your wife’s best friend.

Now, the idea of a good friend looks hazy. You have not spoken someone like that in years. He is not there to share crayons anymore, or the lunch. He is not there to save you from the boss, or the pressures of life. But somewhere in your heart you know he is there.

It is time to remind yourself, what is your idea of a good friend now. Think, before you get busy with the day’s work. And just pick up a phone or send a message telling him how much you miss him. Or simply e-mail this post to him. All the years that you have lost, will come right back to you!

And you will know, what is your idea of a good friend, today!
